Most Likely To . . .

A new mug was added to my collection this holiday season.

The aesthetics of the mug, its texture and size, has made it my mug of choice for the past month.  Plus, the truth of its message makes me chuckle.  Yep, my Adi-girl without a doubt is the dog on the mug right down to the red bandana and cookie crumb covered muzzle.

An entire collection of mugs could be designed around her propensities as a Labrador Retriever

Most Likely to . . .

  • Swim with the ducks
  • Sneak a snooze during work hours
  • Make a friend
  • Do tricks for treats

As the new year got underway, I found myself contemplating the “Most likely to . . .” message a little more each time I prepared a cup of coffee.  One morning, I added a preface, “In 2025, most likely to . . . “  But that sounded way too New Year’s resolution-istic. So I thought a little harder. If my dog’s breed points to her propensities, what points to mine?

By the next morning’s cup of coffee, I had a new preface. The one I want to direct my inclinations- In Christ. As soon as I added the preface “In Christ” to the statement “Most Likely to,” scriptures began to bubble to the forefront of my mind, like

In Christ,  Most likely to give thanks in all circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Dear reader, how would you finish this statement? In Christ, most likely to . . .

  1. In Christ, I’m most likely to persevere, take courage, and have a go!

In Christ, I’m most likely to focus on Jesus rather than become overwhelmed by the problems.

In Christ, I’m most likely to treasure hope and let His joy flow and speak peace (His peace) into my entire being (as He asked me to do)!

In Christ, I’m most likely to turn up and let myself be seen…

Thanks Beth for this great exercise. I feel like it will be a positive exercise to speak truth – in Christ – each morning and let it be!

    ooh…I love this!

need to ponder this one – my word for the year is “intentionally” (not a ‘thing’ I do every year – this one rather obviously presented itself in front of my nose)

so, then, perhaps: In Christ I will intentionally trust Him, no matter what I see!

was a great time, although head colds are lingering!

thoroughly enjoyed our Live radio shows on Christmas and Boxing Day mornings. Also, our first New Year’s Eve Pure Party 😀

Happy New Year Beth – how was the festive period for you and your family?

      2. Good but different. We have always traveled back to my childhood home to spend several days over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my parents, my brothers, and their families. I am now working at our church which meant I worked Christmas Eve and we weren’t able to make it up to my family until the 26th. One of our animals was sick so our trip was a brief 24 hours. That said, we loved our time with family however abbreviated and my teens loved sleeping till noon on Christmas Day. New Year’s was lowkey and peaceful.

  6. In Christ, most likely to demonstrate God’s love to others. (Romans 5:8)

In Christ, most likely to follow the path of good works God has prepared for me to do. (Ephesians 2:10).

I love it, Beth! Two words, “In Christ “ changed the focus and meaning of the thought.
I continue to admire your concise, yet insightful writing style. You make it look easy, but I know (from experience ) it isn’t always so.

Blessings! Doggy hugs to Adi and Summer 🐾🐾🐾🐾

    1. Excellent “In Christ” statements, David. Thank you for your kind words. The Lord truly gets all the credit. I have such little margin for writing these days so when a lesson comes together I am grateful to the Source of inspiration. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year.
