“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.”
Psalm 97:1, NIV
To enjoy a devotional that coincides with this verse please visit the blog I Love the Psalms by author David Kitz. It was Kitz’s book “Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Prayer and Worship” that had me meditating on Psalms 97 last week and inspired today’s scripture photo.
This will be my third year reading through the Psalms 365 series. The covers of my copies, pictured below, show the wear and tear of daily use while the inner pages are highlighted, annotated, and hold personal prayers and reflections. If you are looking for a solid, Biblically sound devotional I would highly recommend this series.

How does the Psalm 365 work? I’m envisioning reading a Psalm a day. I’d love to hear more. Thanks for sharing this recommendation, Beth.

Sorry Rainer that it took me so long to respond to your comment. We embarked on our Thanksgiving holiday early and are finally resettled. In the Psalms 365 series the Psalms spread out over the year. Shorter Psalms are read in a day while longer ones are spread out. Each devotional focuses on a key verse from your reading and includes a “Reflection,” a “Response” which is a prayer, and “Your Turn” with some questions on which you can journal. To get the best picture of what the book is like check out David Kitz’s website at https://davidkitz.blog/ or you can find him in WordPress under “I Love the Psalms.”

I think Adi might be worshiping as she takes in that glorious sunset over the water! Thank you for the book recommendations–I always appreciate them from people I appreciate! 😁 I’ve added the title and author to my TBP list.

I couldn’t agree more Nancy! One of the many reasons I feel closer to God when surrounded by nature is because it knows by whom it was created and exists to His glory. I’m so glad you’ve added Psalms 365 to your TBP list.

What a spectacular sunset and photo. I wonder if Adi is sniffing at the wind looking for birds while she admires the sunset.

Thank you Pastor Pete! You are absolutely right. She is sniffing the air while waiting patiently for her favorite fishermen to return in their boat.

The colors they can and can’t see always arises when it’s time to pick new dog toys. I always forget and buy orange because it’s the color I can clearly see.

Thank you David. Yes, you’ve read her Labrador mind perfectly but she’s also accepted the instruction of no bedtime swim. Wet Labs make for soggy sleeping bags.
