A Moment with Our Creator: 1 Peter 3:4

Maxine (Adi’s littermate) & Lady (their mama)

“You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.”

1 Peter 3:4, NLT

May is the month for celebrating mothers.  Thus, Adi’s mother Lady is featured in this month’s scripture photo.  Our human mothers teach us many things.  It’s the same with dogs.  From Lady, Adi learned to love humans, to socialize with other dogs, to go up and down stairs, and to do her business outside (yes puppy Adi arrived virtually housebroken). Adi also inherited her mother’s gentle ways and adoring eyes.  Lady will be fourteen this year. Time has added silver to her fox red coat and slowed her gait, but it hasn’t diminished the beauty of love that fills this Labrador. Time doesn’t diminish the beauty and importance of mothers either.

This post is dedicated to my Mom who introduced me to Jesus as a little girl, who sacrificed so much for each of us kids, and whose unfading beauty is a gentle and quiet spirit.

Lovely tribute, Beth. I’m thankful for the gift of faith that my mother passed down to me. I don’t know where I’d be without her influence in my life. Praise the Lord for our Christian mothers and how they shaped our lives. May we continue to pass on this precious gift to our families and all in our sphere of influence. Thank you, Beth, for triggering many precious memories of my mother today. Although she’s still alive, in some ways, we have already lost her to dementia.

  2. Beautiful. I join you in celebrating my mother, too. She is the one who introduced me to Jesus, as your mother did for you. I often wonder where I would be today if not for her Christ-like life and her holiness. I know we speak for all those who had, and have, Godly mothers. Thank you Beth.

  3. So beautiful your tribute to you mom and all moms, Beth! Even Adi’s mom. Words just fail me this time. So many emotions well up simultaneously and catch in my throat. Thank you for the expressive beauty of your words and sharing them here!

  4. “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” Abraham Lincoln

Actually, Lincoln had two angel mothers. His biological mother died when he was nine and his father remarried.

I love both my parents but my mother was my world. She, too, introduced me to Jesus.

    Thanks for sharing, Beth!
